Pearly Whites & Long nights

Conrad started teething around the 3.5 month mark. His hour long wailing sessions every other night, and refusal to eat was starting to make Dustin and I lose our minds, and at one point, I went into see the doctor thinking surely it was a massive ear infection, or some kind of crazy infection, something, just something to explain why my son screams almost nightly and I can't make it better!

It was teething.

That's all.

She said he was probably just one of those babies that will teeth for a long time, and have trouble with the pain (which, trust me on this people, I have tried everything from Tylenol, Motrin, vanilla extract, ice cubes, frozen mangos, Oregel, teething tablets, frozen wash clothes and everything else under the sun). My doctor said she felt sorry for me, his ears looked fine, and sent my sad soul my way....

BUT.......after lots of sweat, Orajel and tears (mostly our tears, not Conrad's) We finally have teeth!!!
They're still just barely peeking through the gums, but they're there! They're there and Conrad is flossin' his new pearly whites like a badge of honor. And I'm showing them off to everyone who shows the slightest interest. I pried his mouth open today at the store for a granny who stopped us to make goofy faces at him & tell him he was cute. I was all "Well, if you think he's cute, watch this." as I tilted his head back and held his tongue down so she could see those beauties. I'm just so excited that after months of teething-hell, we finally have something to show for it! Talk about overzealous first time mother.

Congrats on your teeny-tiny-sweet little ice caps buddy.
You look like Paul Wall with that grill. So thug.

Show off your fashion! Birthday-weekend Edition

Birthday Fashion: Day Six

I am wearing:
Dress: Sofia's closet
Shoes: Doll House
Purse: Chico's- Yard Sale
Jacket: American Eagle

Husband Is wearing:
Shirt, Jeans, Tie: Express
Jacket: Thrifted
(he purchased this jacket the year we met.
It's my fav. thing he wears)
Leather Loafers: Hush Puppies

Reason we are dressed in such attire you ask?
It was my 25Th Birthday and we went out to dinner.

BUT the fun didn't stop there....
The next day I was blind folded and taken to a spa for a massage and facial!

After my spa retreat, we went to the park for a surprise picnic. Dustin went to Whole Foods and got pizza, wine, berries, tiny desserts, and sandwiches for us to eat. We laid under the trees in the grass enjoying the cool October night. It was incredibly sweet and made up for all of the date nights in the past that were spent studying or laying on the couch being pregnant! We've decided that picnics are more enjoyable than restaurants, less expensive, and must happen as much as possible.

In other birthday news, one of my best girlfriends got me an awesome water proof digital camera, which i can't wait to use this summer. She went to 3 stores trying to replace my broken Polaroid camera that I bought from her at her own garage sale last year, but couldn't find one, and instead got me a sweet water proof camera! So fun! Thank you Tracy! I didn't even ask for the camera, but LOVE it. She said her theory on gifts is, if you really listen to your friends, you wont have to ask them what they want. So true!

This weekend I felt incredibly cherished by those who I love.
It was the best birthday I could have ever wished for.

{Overjoyed Birthday girl}

Fall Fashion: Day Five

I am wearing:

Flats: Doll House (from Ross)
Shirt: Thrifted
Jeans: Gap
(First pair I bought when I was getting fat when I was pregnant.
They'er baggy and comfortable. I wear them all the time.)
Suspenders & Earrings: Thrifted. 3 dollars total.
{I sewed on buttons to the front and back of jeans.}
Jacket: American Eagle
(X-mas gift 4 years ago. It's not cold enough for it yet, but I'm itching to wear it.
The smell of leather makes me quite happy!)

In much more important news......
wait for it.....wait for it.....I can't stand it any longer!
{Conrad giving kisses to Daddy after his interview}

We're so overjoyed and excited to announce-
Dustin had a 5 hour long interview with an environmental engineering firm yesterday, and they loved him. They said that out of everyone they've interviewed, Dustin was the most qualified and had the most experience. (They also were impressed with his philosophy back ground, which made him feel like switching his major after being half way finished getting his philosophy degree wasn't such a bad thing after all!)
They said they would be calling to make an offer in the next week.

We're both really blown away at how God has put this in our laps. The company he's working for now was kind enough to let him know well in advance that the intern program would be ending in December, which meant that Dustin would be jobless. Since the job market is so scarce, we were looking at all of our options (moving in with the in laws... insert sad face here______ ) But then this amazing opportunity came along! God is so faithful. Dustin is excited to finally be done with school and start his career. Just the thought of health insurance, paid vaca, sick days!!! It's enough to make me want to run around in circles til' I fall on the floor giggling, kicking my legs in the air!

Fall Fashion week: Day Four

What I am wearing:
Dress & mustard tights- Forever21 {clearance rack 2 years ago}
Sweater- Nordstrom Rack
Boots- Banana Republic {buffalo Exchange}

It's funny, last night I was talking with some other mamas about how when you're at home all day with your baby getting pooped on, thrown up on, and you've got dried peas in your hair (from your baby sneezing in your face right after you've spooned in a mouthful of food) you don't have time to think about dressing cute. It seams like I end up changing outfits several times a day somedays caring for a messy baby. When you're at home all day, you wear clothes you can get dirty in, you don't wear cute floral dresses. I usually wear normal-presentable clothes when I've got dr's apts, lunches with friends, or going to work- otherwise I'm wearing tank tops and yoga pants. That's why celebrating fall fashion week this week has been so much fun. I love to see how everyone else expresses themselves through their fashion.

Check out what the fashionistas' are wearing!

Public Displays of Affection

"You ought to be thankful if the guilt {or PAIN} of your sin
nags at you until you repent because if you are oblivious to your sin,
you will forever be oblivious to God."

Conversations over dinner.

Thank you for humbling me & speaking truth to my soul.
Thank you for spurring me on to live life to the fullest.
Thank you for turning my eyes to Jesus, the only
One who truly satisfies.

When I feel like I can't go on,
I look at you and I'm encouraged by your perseverance.

{I am incredibly proud of you
& forever thankful to be matched with you.}

We're almost there....
