FIVE.

Today we celebrate five years of marriage. On our wedding day, one of my bridesmaids had hand stuffed each fortune cookie with a personalized fortune for the guests but the cookies never made their way onto the dinner plates for our Asian themed reception dinner.... But such is life. Things don't always go the way you plan. And that's totally OK. Sometimes the details get lost in the bustle of more important things. We knew the cookies were there though, even if no one else did. As an anniversary tradition, I always incorporate a fortune cookie of some sort into our celebration. The first year I ordered Dustin a gigantic foot long fortune cookie with a 2 foot long message inside and a bride and groom made out of icing on the top of it. I put the cookie in a great big hat box and I think we snacked on that cookie for an entire week...

Another year I gave him a sterling silver fortune cookie that has a slot for a photo.
It sits on his desk holding a picture of us.
This year, I found flavored, colored cookies and surprised him with it this morning.
 We broke our cookies open to see what our messages read.
 My message is on top, & Dustin's on bottom. Honestly though, I wonder how much truth his message has. The man HAS NO GAME. Like, honestly. If a chick were flirting with him, I'm not even sure he'd realize it at all. *Which is a good thing!
Another tradition we've kept to since we've been married is celebrating with a Red Stripe beer. We drank it on our honeymoon in Jamaica and we look forward to buying a six pack on our anniversary every year, and lounging in a pool, pretending we're not in Vegas, but in the Caribbean instead. Clearly, we won't be enjoying any Red Stripe this year being that I'm totally knocked up, but there's always next year!

We don't have any solid plans in place for our anniversary. Dustin booked us reservations somewhere but I told him we should just stay home and cook together (we've got a birth & baby to pay for! I'd rather save the $) BUT most importantly, we've got a babysitter for tonight!! Woo hoo!!!!

{Happy Five Years to us!}
